Half a Million Individuals
If the Jaguar E-Type is the worlds most desirable sports car, then the MGB is perhaps the worlds most recognisable.
Over 500,000 vehicles were produced from when production started in 1962 until it finally ceased in 1980. Whilst there were a number of variations to the model through this time, MGBs fundamentally remained unchanged, this fact along with production volumes and popularity of the car means that there is a support base around the world that many modern automotive manufacturers would be proud of.
MGBs were, in effect, produced in 4 models. Two of these were the “chrome bumper” roadsters and its GT variant. The “rubber bumper” MGB Roadster and its GT equivalent were introduced later, mainly in response to safety legislation in the USA. Variations beyond this are more subtle, involving engines, gearboxs and overdrive and a myriad of trim variations.
Over the years, many MGs have also had changes made to them by their owners, either to improve the cars reliability or drivability with later model changes, or to make cosmetic adjustments to get that classic MG “look”. This makes all MGB’s individual’s and really, this is part of the appeal. They all have character.
Aspiration’s MGB is no exception to this rule. It is a 1965 MKI or “pull door handle” MGB Roadster, finished in a variation of British Racing Green. It has been upgraded to the more reliable 5 main bearing engine but retains its original gearbox with its crash 1st gearing.
The MGB has wider than standard wheels fitted, which not only look great, but provide fabulous handling. It is an absolute joy to drive with the throaty MG sound track to accompany you. This is one individual you’ll thoroughly enjoy getting to know.
